Congressional Leaders Reach Farm Bill Agreement
After nearly four months of extensions, House and Senate Farm Bill conferees have reached an agreement on the main elements of the 2008 Farm Bill. Pheasants Forever (PF) and Quail Forever (QF) urge both the House and the Senate to pass the legislation, and for President George W. Bush to sign the bill into law as quickly as possible. If passed, the bill would provide an additional $4 billion in new funding for conservation programs; welcome news for wildlife conservation and hunters.

Central Pennsylvania Home to Two New Pheasants Forever Chapters - May. 06, 2008
Central Pennsylvania is home to two new Pheasants Forever (PF) chapters. Residents from Blair County have formed the Blair County Chapter of PF, while residents from Centre County have formed the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of PF. Both groups are dedicated to habitat improvement that benefits upland birds, waterfowl, deer and other local wildlife.

Despite the expiration of 79,677 Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres in Minnesota since October 1 of last year, interest in CRP remains as evidenced by the 6,365 acres already offered for enrollment in the new State Acres For wildlife Enhancement (SAFE) conservation practice, the Minnesota Back Forty Pheasant Habitat program.

Congress Inches Closer on New Farm Bill - May. 02, 2008
Late last night, congressional leaders reached a framework agreement on the 2008 Farm Bill's Conservation Title. Lawmakers are still ironing out other titles to complete the new Farm Bill. Full conservation program specifics will not be publicly released until early next week, but the new Farm Bill appears to be moving forward with the possibility of floor votes in both the Senate and House next week.

Storm Moves into PF/QF's Idaho/Utah Regional Rep Position - May. 01, 2008
Pheasants Forever, Inc. and Quail Forever announce that Ryan Storm of Strasburg, Illinois, has been named the organization's new regional representative in Idaho and Utah. Storm joins the organization after spending two years as the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's Regional Director for Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia.

New WMA in Douglas County purchased with help of Build a Wildlife Area Campaign - Apr. 30, 2008
This Saturday, May 3rd, at 1 PM in Douglas County, a new 1,000-acre Wildlife Management Area (WMA) will be dedicated to honor the 41-year career of Saint Paul's Roger Holmes. Holmes retired in 2000 after spending a decade as the Minnesota Department of Natural Resource's (DNR) director of the Fish and Wildlife Division and 18 years as the chief of the Wildlife Section. Minnesota's Build a Wildlife Area campaign played a critical role in the acquisition of the new WMA.

Finally Closing in on a Farm Bill - Apr. 25, 2008
Key House and Senate farm bill negotiators reached agreement today on the main elements of the farm bill, with details to be presented to all conferees Monday. Senate Budget Chairman Kent Conrad said the five-year bill would raise the target prices and loan rates for northern crops beginning in 2010, raise the sugar loan rate three-quarters of a cent and include a sugar-to-ethanol program.

Pheasants Forever (PF) and The Big Wild, America's Premier Outdoor Radio Show, announce a seven-minute segment entitled "In the Wild with Pheasants Forever" as a new feature on The Big Wild outdoor radio program. The segment, which will feature hunting tips, seasonal activities and conservation issues, is the official outdoor radio production of Pheasants Forever. "In the Wild with Pheasants Forever" will begin airing on Saturday, May 3rd.

PF and DNR to Celebrate 25 Years of MN Pheasant Stamp with Event on April 15 - Apr. 08, 2008
Pheasants Forever (PF) and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are hosting a celebration event recognizing the people, the accomplishments and the significance of 25 years of the Minnesota Pheasant Habitat Stamp on Tuesday, April 15th at the Prom Center in Oakdale. The event will take place 25 years to the day at the exact venue of PF's first banquet at which then-Governor Rudy Perpich signed the stamp into law.
